Planning on heading out to the
Huntsville Fall Fair on Sept.
19, 20 and 21st? Of course
you are. Fireworks, agricultural
displays, music and all kinds of good
things to eat await you, as evidenced
in the very bottom and very top pics
showing last year’s midway.
But take a glance at the pic to the
immediate left, showing Huntsville’s
Fall Fair in 1914.
What a difference 94 years
makes.
And while the garb of fairgoers
and the entertainment has changed
a bit, we’ll always have our poultry
exhibits.
Inset below is a picture of Nellie
Darling (nee Tutt) feeding her
turkeys circa. 1900 in front of
parent-in-law James and Hannah
(nee Dixon) Darling’s homestead
in 1869.
Below that, a Cochin White sits in
beribboned glory as spectators give
him the once-over.
All we can say is, nice birds baby.
